religion

HI Folks,

It seems to me that the roots to the major world religions have a common genisis (so to speak).  The Islamic religion is purported to have begun through a descendant of Abraham, the same as the Christian and Jewish religions did.

Now, I have known this for many years but the impact of this fact, the fact of the origin of the worlds various beliefs being so closely tied to one another have received a new importance to me, through my visits to various sites in the Middle East. The Hebrew faith, the Islamic faith and the Christian faith all began here, and began in very similar fashion.

I am going to spend the next few months, and quite possibly the next few years exploring the points of divergence.  The point of divergence between Christians and those of the Jewish faith is very well documented.  It could even be argued that Christianity itself is a further extension of the Hebrew faith in a lot of ways.  As Christians, we are but Jews with the perspective of Christ.   Perhaps that is one reason that a lot of Christians find themselves as natural allies to the Jewish people?  The point of divergence amongst the followers of Islam is not so clearly known to me.  I will explore that point when and where I can.

The real divergence of opinion about matters of faith, the epic existential battle if you will allow me to say that, is the one between Islam and "other faiths".  Predominantly those faiths that base themselves in Hebrew teachings, like Christianity.

I will be exploring these things in the upcoming months, and perhaps years.  It is exciting to be here, working in the middle east, and I hope to receive many revelations from God while here.  I thank God for the opportunity to be here, and to strengthen my faith and to visit some of the locations so vividly spoken of in the bible.

God bless!

videos

video video video videoHi Folks,

I am going to try to send 4 small (not the best quality either) videos out this week, just to see if they work.

One is of the school construction and the work that the Praise Cathedral Church of God did on the school, and the other three are various small clips of my job.

Hope they come through, and if they DO, that you enjoy them.

God bless!

headed back to Saudi Arabia (Jeddah)

Hi Folks,

Just a quick note to say that I am headed back to Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia tomorrow.  I have enjoyed my all too brief respite in the great state of Arkansas...but alas, 'tis over.  Myself and Ralph Martinez will be flying N751NS to Jeddah, leaving sometime tomorrow afternoon.  We expect the trip to take about two days, with stops in Gandar, New Foundland, Shannon, Ireland, Athens, Greece, and finally to Jeddah.  Flexibility is the key, as always.  Keep our flight in your prayers folks, please.

I will be back in Nica sometime around the 28th of this month, if not shortly before.  You can reach me via email, as always.

God bless!

Flying across the Atlantic

Hi Folks,

I had the opportunity to fly a mid-sized business jet across the Atlantic Ocean this week.  It was the first time for me to "hop the pond" without being on an airline.  The flight was actually pretty straight forward, but there were a few techniques which had to be used which were new to me.  I found the flight to be fascinating, although a nonpilot would probably make a big yawn about the whole thing.  grin!

We flew from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Athens, Greece, then on to Shanon, Ireland where we spent the night.  Next day we flew from Shanon, Ireland, crossing the Atlantic Ocean to Gandor, NewFoundland, and then stopped for the night in Bangor, Maine.  The following day we pulled into Little Rock, Arkansas, which is where we are right now...waiting to take the reverse flight back to Jeddah in a couple of brand new Hawker-750's.

Just wanted to send this out.  For the pilots that follow my blog, let me know if you want to see the coordinate plots when I get back to Nicaragua, I kept a copy.

Later,

Richard
