Many blessings this month

Hi Folks,

We have received many blessings and word of many more to come this month.

Our "month of blessings" began with the annual conference at the Cooper City Church of God, in the Miami area. link

Carolyn and I like the other 65 or so missionaries who were able to attend had a wonderful, blessed and truly Spiritual experience this year (as always) at Cooper City. I know that the Cooper City conference is amongst the greatest each year, and we cherish the friends we have there.

Immediately following the Cooper City conference I was able to drive my truck from Miami to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua! The drive was long, and burdensome as I was by myself, but God blessed the journey and enable me to make short work of it. I saw many instances of God's blessings along the route. The borders seemed shorter, except the one into Honduras and Mexico, and the journey itself was comparatively easier than I had thought it would be. I had many friends and family praying for me as I "trudged along" and I felt each prayer, as though being lifted aloft in song along the way.

Upon my arrival into Managua the National Overseer, Antonio Martinez, blessed us by an invitation to a regional conference in Managua. We saw many friends there that we hadn't seen in quite some time. The evening services easily had over 12,000 people attending! What a crowd and WHAT A SPIRIT was present! We were quite impressed, not only with the organizational effort displayed but by the quality of the total experience that each pastor and participant encountered there. Good job brother Antonio!

Brother Antonio is also working on acquiring an exoneration of taxes for my truck and the other items which I brought into the country...please keep THAT little project in your prayers.

We have now officially received a letter declaring that NO PARKING FEES ARE TO BE CHARGED TO US FOR PARKING THE AIRPLANE. This is a really big deal, as the fee is $5 per day normally. That can add up to $150 per month to our already overstretched budget. So we are thrilled that this letter has now actually been sent out to ALL of the airports in this country. Hallelujah, and praise God!

Additionally, we have a chance at receiving other funding from an organization here in Puerto Cabezas for MORE flying of the airplane, for forest patrols.

It is very important that EACH OF YOU UNDERSTAND that all of these good tiding are acts of God. There is nothing special about Carolyn or I (well, maybe Carolyn) that can accomplish these things. It is truly evidence that God is making LARGE FOOTPRINTS in Nicaragua right now.

We have felt His presence like never before here. It is awesome and humbling to us. We praise His Name, and ask that ALL glory be given solely to Him!

many things going on
Hi Folks,God has blessed our little mission here in Nicaragua MIGHTILY in the last week or so. There have been minor delays (as always), but there have also been steps taken FORWARD.As you know, the truck arrived safely into Nicaragua, with a tired but happy missionary (me) at the wheel. Since its arrival, the truck has had a "mataburro" (front, push bumper) attached and some extra lights added for the hazardous journey the rest of the way to Puerto Cabezas. As is often the way, the last part of the journey is the most hazardous, so I need your prayers for safety please.I will be traveling this afternoon, evening and into tomorrow morning (a journey of about 20 hours) with Supervisor Gustavo Zavala to Puerto Cabezas. I was under the impression that he knew the way completely and would add a margin of surety to the trip. When he was looking at the map with me this morning however I realized that although he HAS actually made the trip before, there appears to be no CERTAINTY to the route to be taken. I suppose it has to do with climate, weather, terrain and other factors. At least we have heard that the people that were stopping traffic at Suma have let people continue on through now. All is well, as of now, and I will send another update within a day or two of arriving into Puerto Cabezas. We are excited that Doctor/Pastor Jim Chamberlain, and Doctor/Missions Director Phil Allen are arriving into Managua this afternoon. Their flight has been delayed by two hours (we don't know why), but they are coming. Because of the delay, they will have to spend the night in Managua and journey out to Puerto Cabezas tomorrow. Supervisor Zavala and I should actually be able to arrive into Puerto BEFORE they get there tomorrow, barring complications of course.Dios le bendiga grandemente a su familia y ministerio.Casa de Servicio, InternationalMissionary Aviation, Medical EvacuationChurch of God, World Missions Project #: 065-0497http://www.casadeservicio.orgRichard & Carolyn Becton1135 Ponderosa DrCleveland, TN 37312210 392-9574 (for dialing from the US, and for messages)011 505 613-5824 (Our number in Nicaragua)http://www.myspace.com/rbectonhttp://www.casadeservicio.org/blog/

Another update, and I drove down to Nicaragua from Miami in my truck.

Hi Folks,

The latest real news that I have is that I FINALLY HAVE MY TRUCK HERE IN NICARAGUA!

I started the drive down here from Miami at 11:30 am on Sunday morning (I left from the Cooper City Church of God conference, after the morning service and Sunday School).

I arrived last night (Thursday night) at 9:00pm (local).  In all it  took me 4 1/2 days to drive from Miami through:

Florida
Mississippi
Alabama
Louisiana
Texas
Mexico
Guatemala
El Salvador
Honduras
and Nicaragua.

I had to make the trip all by my poor little lonesome self, but it went well and I was blessed by God the entire way.

I will try to post a "synopsis" later in the week if possible.

We are excited that Pastor Jim Chamberlain and his missions director Phil Allen are coming to Managua for a "scouting trip" in advance of their groups arrival in June.

Please pray that all goes well with their trip!

God Bless you guys!

Richard

a time of resting

Hi Folks,

Carolyn and I are very much looking forward to attending the Cooper City Church of God's annual missions conference this year.

We will be in Florida from the 3rd, through the 10th of this month. If you want or need to get in touch with us, please call us on our US cell phone number: 423 544-8316.

We hope to renew growing friendships while there, and to possibly meet new friends and fellow misisonaries. It is ALWAYS exciting, and a time of resting for those of us that can make time in our schedules to attend.

So, we'll be in the States for a few days, and please touch base with us if you can.

Interesting week or so has passed.

Hi Folks,

I haven't been able to update our blog in the last 11 or 12 days, and much has happened.

We were blessed to be able to attend church services with Brother Roberto Aldana of Guatemala on Sunday the 20th of January. Brother Aldana is a gifted speaker and we were very blessed to be able to attend both his morning and evening sessions.

In the morning it was a local church in Managua, a really large church (although the church was in a building process and had no walls). Believe it or not, this was the first time that Carolyn or I had EVER attended services in Managua! We have been to many many services in Nicaragua of course, but NEVER in Managua. We are usually in such a hurry to get to Puerto Cabezas (home) that we don't take time to "linger in Managua...and the timing to attend services here just has never worked out.

It was an interesting service, both in the morning in Managua and that evening in Granada. Lots of banner waving, and many many people slain in the Spirit. Quite different than what we've become accustomed to in Puerto Cabezas.

Other occurences: I had to stop by immigration yet again the 21st to get PERMISSION to leave the country. Now that I am officially a resident, this is a requirement. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this "immigration" status of "resident", let me assure you that I have in NO WAY given up any of my rights, or responsibilities as a United States citizen. I AM STILL A PROUD AMERICAN. I just reside outside the country currently.

I finally got the "moto" registered in Puerto, so it is now legal. I gave a moving testimony on Sunday night 27th of January. It was picked up by two local radio stations and rebroadcast several times. I basically explained what a missionary is, and why Carolyn and I do what we do. God moved during this testimony and He was responsible for many people calling in and saying it touched their hearts. How encouraging for us.

We passed out many calendars with our pictures on them to local businesses. There is a picture of us and the airplane on the top of the calendar and many people really liked receiving them. We actually had a guy who passed through the local "aduana" office (import/export office) who saw the calendar and contacted us. We had dinner with him last night. He is a fellow "volunteer" who lives about an hour and a half outside of Puerto Cabezas. He is also a fellow pilot. It was a good dinner, and it always is, with fellow Christians, and pilots.

We have participated in many other forms of ministry in the last few days also. We helped a pregnant lady get to Managua, flew the airplane for a "recurrency eval" for Carolyn, prayed for and with many many people. Typical stuff that keeps your humble missionaries VERY BUSY.

We pray that God is blessing you richly, deeply and fully!
