traveled to Washinton D.C. and met some new friends from Ecuador

Hi Folks,

Carolyn and I have returned to the United States for a brief period in order to bring the PA23-250 (Aztec Airplane) back to Nicaragua.  We are VERY excited about this "next step" in our ministries progess!

We have been told by Senor Umberto Campbell and assured by his secretary Ramon Canales that the money for the gasoline to fly the airplane to Puerto Cabezas is "coming".  Praise God for that!

While we have been in the United States for the last four days, we managed to get a copy of Carolyn's birth certificate translated into Spanish and authenticated by the Secretary of State's office (Condoleezza Rice).

We have two more things to take care of before we depart the States and expect to easily have them completed by the end of this week.  That gives the "powers that be" in Nicaragua ample time to complete the process of depositing the money into our account down in Puerto Cabezas.

Please pray with us that this process will happen speedily!

By the way, since some of you asked what our address in Nicaragua is:

Here's the "rest of the story"...(like in Paul Harvey's, "the rest of the story")

Hi Folks,

Well...it looks like the government of Nicaragua is going to FINALLY supply AT LEAST the fuel necessary to bring the PA23-250 (Aztec) to Nicaragua!

We were promised that the money would be deposited directly into our account last Wednesday...Now we figured that it wouldn't happen quite that quickly and we were right. HOWEVER...we are coming back to the States in anticipation of the next time we voyage out to Puerto Cabezas that it will be in Casa de Servicio's missionary airplane!

I have to confess that the prospect of bringing the airplane here without having the necessary funding in place to actually OPERATE is a bit daunting. We have ALSO been assured by those in power here in Nicaragua that the gasoline to operate the airplane WILL BE SUPPLIED.

I have to say though, that if it takes as long for them to supply the gasoline as it has for them to come up with the funds for flying it TO Nicaragua...well, let's just say that I am not getting ANY YOUNGER (smile).

Carolyn and I have been keeping very busy helping to coordinate the delivery of relief goods from the Church of God, World Missions to MANY, MANY outlying communities along the road to Rosita, and in the Miskito Cays by boat. The main coordinator has been Ryan Baker, the son of Richard Baker of World Missions and the Lazarus Foundation.

Ryan, although a young man, has done a fantastic job of keeping the supply lines moving...and in good order. I am impressed with this young man, and the way he facilitates large projects...much like his dad. I know that God has blessed the Baker family because of their Faith and Service to His Kingdom.

I will write more later...as Carolyn and I will be back in the States for about two weeks, as of tomorrow morning!

God Bless!

The Spiritual side of things

Hi Folks,

The last couple of blogs I sent out were mostly about the logisitics side of our missionary work in La Miskitia.  They have been mostly factual and concise.

I want to mention that what we are accomplishing on the Miskito Coast is inherently and intrinsically Spiritual in nature.

Yes it's true that the physical needs of the Miskito people MUST be met.  That fact was brought home to us by the rioting that took place just four days ago in Puerto Cabezas.  The locals were "rioting" for roofs over their heads, and food in the bellies of their families.  After three days of demonstrations and rioting at the airport (our house is adjacent to the airport property) the Nicaraguan government met with the protesters to discuss their needs.  The poor people of Puerto Cabezas got so worked up that they actually stormed a Pulperia (7-11 type of store) and also a bodega (a storehouse) where the government had been storing grain and rice.

I am only mentioning those things so that you can see that their truly ARE physical needs that the Church of God and others are striving to meet.

It is the Spiritual needs which are most apparent in Puerto Cabezas.  The power of God can bring this city to a semblence of civility!

Please join us in prayer that God will deliver these people from the burdens of sin, and free them to enjoy the Joy of living in His Kingdom!

a moment before "rush hour"

Hi Folks,

Carolyn and I are "headed out" this morning on our week of turbulent activities in pursuit of our residency card in Nicaragua.

Before we begin the "rush"...(see last blog to see our schedule)

I want to take a second to THANK the organization that has helped and prayed for this missions success.

The Church of God, World Missions Headquarters, Cleveland, Tennessee.

This "organization" (and I put parenthesis there because it's more of a UNITY of like-minded people than an "organization), has helped and encouraged Carolyn and I along the paths which we have had to travel.  I have never been involved with a more devout group of people that TRULY seek to follow the leading of the Lord.  The Church of God is a LARGE group of dedicated individuals working together to complete the Great Comission.  That is IT, in a nutshell.  Our thanks go out to this disparate group for the many ways which they have helped, sometimes in ways which they don't even know about.  I am SURE that the prayers of this UNITY of people are responsible for the successes that this mission continues to have.

I could name many, many people in this organization that have helped and prayed for us, but I am afraid I would leave someone out...those of you that are reading this, please understand that we have received help from MANY others also.

I just want to specially thank the World Missions department today.  Each of you as individuals and small groups already know the heart-felt thanks that exist in our hearts for your help.

I don't think we have EVER specifically thanked the Church of God, World Missions though, and so...we are!
