The plan

When we arrive in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua one of our first steps will be to begin our building program. We will need a suitable building or facility to house visiting missionaries, and to train Casa de Servicio's "missions warriors" to safely accomplish future missionary works.

We will build, or attempt to have the government of Nicaragua provide, a place where we can train Pastors, and Nurses, and Pilots in the La Moskitia region of Nicaragua. It is vitally important that your prayers intercede on our behalf in these efforts. It is prayer which will make the project continue, and it is God that will make it complete.

Bringing the word of God to the under served people of Nicaragua is the first step. It is a vital and ever-lasting step of course, but it IS quite simply ONLY a first step. Richard and Carolyn Becton can't save ANYONE'S soul from the hellfire of eternal damnation, only the blood of Jesus Christ can do that.

So we will bring the word, and having "put our hands to the plough" we will NOT look back!

Casa de Servicio still has many needs of course.

There is a gentleman in the Graysville Church of God who has offered to form a committee of hard working people that will help Casa de Servicio to raise funds for the purchase of the Maule Aircraft which we will need in Nicaragua to accomplish our secondary mission, of saving lives through air service to remote villages in La Moskitia.

I believe that the "basic idea" is to gather a group of at least 12 people who will take charge of one month per year and do SOMETHING to raise funds to be put towards the purchase of this aircraft. This SOMETHING could consist of a bake sale, or simply speaking with your local church to coordinate the effort through your pastor. These individuals would be asked to speak with friends, neighbors, and local businesses to contibute to our efforts in Nicaragua to "Save lives, now and forever!" Tony, in Graysville Church of God will have more complete details on what he is trying to accomplish for our ministry. I believe that the plan is to coordinate these efforts through Tony using email, fax, and telephone.

It is important to us that you keep Tony's efforts in prayer. I believe that Tony is being led of God to accomplish this committee.

God bless each and every one of you that receives this blog, and we pray for your participation in this exciting ministry through prayer and active involvement.

coming right along

Well, things are coming right along. If you read our last blog then you know that we had a very, very good time in Anderson, SC last Sunday. Pastor Eduardo Nieves was a great host, and we were "charged up" by meeting the good people at the Nuevo Mana, Iglesia de Dios in Anderson, SC.

Carolyn and I are safely (and restfully) at work this week and part of next week. We will be visiting Carolyn's mother next week and driving home from New Jersey the following weekend. For those of you that are paying attention, that means that Carolyn and I will be in Cleveland, TN for the full day on either Saturday the 18th (Charles Lamberts anniversary) or Sunday the 19th of August. We think it will be Sunday the 19th, which will allow us to attend the morning services, and the Hispanic services at our "home" church the New Covenant Church of God, in Cleveland, TN. This may well be the last time we get to spend ANY time in Cleveland before we make our move to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. We will use the time to visit with and bid our adieus to various friends and acquaintances.

We cherish, and covet, your continued prayers for our ministry and ourselves. God has been good to us throughout this "process" of itineration and we know that it is mainly due to your prayers and help. God bless you!

Lot's has happened

Since last I wrote, a lot has happened, most of which is great news!

As you know, we were able to rent our house out to some GREAT renters, hallelujah! We also moved (most of) our stuff out of the house and into the Avion travel trailer (http://www.casadeservicio.org/projects/Avion2.jpg).

Carolyn and I drove the Avion down to the Tampa, FL area on Thursday to "stage" it for Nicaragua. We will do some final "tuning up" of the Avion to completely prep it for the journey and for use in Puerto Cabezas. Our friend in Puerto Cabezas (Calmore Williams) is helping us to import the trailer into Nicaragua, please keep HIS efforts in your prayers.

We stopped in to visit with Pastor Jim and Anita Chamberlain in Fernandina Beach, FL yesterday (Christ Walk Church). Pastor Chamberlain shared a unique opportunity for us to partnership with him in bringing better vision to the Miskito people. We will be pursuing this opportunity vigorously. (Pastor Chamberlain is also a Doctor of Opthamology). Stay tuned for more news on this aspect of our ministry!

Carolyn and I have the opportunity to share our mission with Pastor Eduardo Nieves and his congregation at the Nuevo Mana (New Manna) Church of God in the morning, in Anderson, SC.

Anyone that can make it, should come on by!
