Well...we had a glorious time this past weekend

Carolyn and I were once again highly blessed this past weekend. We participated in Saturday afternoons Missions Banquet at the Family Church in Dayton, TN. On Sunday we were blessed to have the opportunity to speak at the Watts Bar Church of God (in the morning) and the Graysville Church of God Sunday evening.
I cannot say ENOUGH about the experiences we had at both places. Pastor Ken Goins (and his wife Connie) at the Watts Bar Church of God made us extremely comfortable and we felt very welcomed by the entire congregation. Some members of the congregation went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, and offered to participate in our ministry too! Thank you SO VERY MUCH for having us into your church Pastor Goins! We look forward to continuing this new relationship with Pastor Goins, and his faithful congregation.
If anyone over there at the Watts Bar Church of God (or anyone else for that matter) knows of someone that may be interested in hearing about our ministry, let me know and I WILL FOLLOW UP on that.
As always, we felt welcomed and "at home" at Pastor Jimmy Talley's(and his wife Rene's) Graysville Church of God. We have taken the opportunity on several occasions (since we live fairly nearby) to visit the Graysville Church of God, just to "have church". Carolyn and I always try to "sneak in the back", but we always seem to get spotted. The Graysville Church of God has sort of "adopted" Carolyn and I. THAT is something that blesses our hearts immensely! (The only other Church that has taken us "under their wings" as much as Graysville has been the House to House Ministry in Ocala, Fl. Pastor Sandy Blower (in Ocala) and Russ and Connie Cooke have almost literally adopted us. We can't even pass through Florida anymore without staying at LEAST one night in Connie and Russ's house. Praise God for the fellowship He provides!
Sister Rene (Pastor Talley's wife) at the Graysville Church of God was in rare form last Sunday. Those of you that live nearby, and want to hear some Godly, Blessed, and talented singing need to stop in over there! It isn't just Rene's singing either. That Graysville choir is REALLY, REALLY SOMETHING else! I don't know if they were great before Sister Rene got to them or not...but they are truly, truly wonders NOW. That little Graysville Church has "something special". Make the trip if you can, it's just south of Dayton, just off of Hwy 27.
I'll write more later,
God Bless.

God has blessed us in many ways this week

After five years of working at Flight Options (over five now), I flew with a pilot last week that I had never flown with before. It was refreshing to actually fly with someone that was interested in hearing a little bit about God, and the Christian philosophy. I have NEVER had the opportunity to share my religious beliefs on the "work-site" before. I was thrilled to be asked, and eagerly responded. Please join us in prayer that God will nurture these seeds in the heart of this pilot.

I was blessed to make initial contact with two influential people that may be of some benefit to our shared ministry. Mr. Hannon Lis, of the Jewish National Fund, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence O'Donnell. All of these folks CAN be a big help to us if they decide to...PLEASE, please, please...keep THIS in MUCH prayer!

We are going to Dayton, TN this weekend for the Dayton Area Missions Banquet. Pastor Mike Justice is the host, at the Dayton Family Church. We treasure your prayers for a beneficial outcome at this event. We want to renew our friendships there, and continue in fellowship with the local churches in that area. We have a very special place in our hearts for the Graysville Church of God which is near Dayton. Pastor Jimmy Talley and his wife Anita are true spirit-filled warriors of Christ! Like so many of the others that we meet, yourself included! We beg your prayers so that all will go well this upcoming weekend. We joyfully anticipate a heartwarming reception in Dayton. The folks there are absolutely some of the best in the country.

Carolyn and I have been blessed with the opportunity to speak at the Ducktown (TN) Baptist Church on May the 6th. We are very much looking forward to this for several reasons. The most obvious reason of course is that the Ducktown Baptist Church is a true missions believing and supporting church, and YOU know how much that warms our hearts to be around fellow missions believers! The second reason is denominational. This will be the first time that Carolyn and I have had the opportunity to speak in a Baptist church. Carolyn and I have attended Baptist churches on occastion (notably in Galveston, when we lived there), but have never had the opportunity to share our mission with the Baptist congregation to this point. We are excited about the possibility.

Most of you know that Carolyn and I are very nondenominational in our approach to ministry. I believe that most missionaries are that way (the ones that I've met anyway). Jesus was VERY inclusive (what a blessing for us gentiles)...so ...

I really don't have much to say this week, except that we are continuing the push towards the permanent move to Puerto Cabezas. A friend of ours (Calmore) had the opportunity to drop a document on President Daniel Ortega's (NICA president) desk last week. The document asks that the items we import for ministry in Nicaragua be allowed into the country without "impuesto" (tax). This would be a huge benefit to our ministry. Calmore received word that the document is receiving favor amongst the ministers (governmental ministers) in Nicaragua and we should hear back this week if it has been approved. Pray for this! For those of you that don't know it, we could be charged as much as 75% taxes on the importation of goods into Nicaragua without this document being approved! If we import a $175,000.00 airplane, it could really add up...not to mention the household goods we'll bring in. It really IS an important thing to our ministry.

I'll sign off for now. God bless you, and richly keep you!

Back from FLORIDA

Well, Carolyn and I made it back from Florida okay.

I made the mistake of trying to lift a telephone pole in my yard a couple of days prior to our journey to Florida...WOW...it really "torques" your back to do that. I really DON'T recommend it! I'm afraid that sometimes people were wondering "What is HE grimacing about"?

BUT, through God's provenance I was able to make the trip in our faithful old Toyota (210,000 miles and counting...). We met with Pastor Jim and Sister Anita Chamberlain and their faithful congregation at the ChristWalk church in Fernandina Beach, FL on Monday night. It was a true blessing to be able to share our mission and our vision for the La Moskitia people of Nicaragua with them! Carolyn and I really enjoyed the fellowship both at the church, and afterwards at Appleby's. We feel that we are truly becoming FRIENDS with Pastor Jim and Sister Anita. We were very well received at ChristWalk and the congregation has decided to support our mission financially. I am not sure to what amount, but it will be a monthly amount, which is course the kind of faithful donation that will truly enable our ministry to survive and prosper. For those amongst you that do not know it...it is the faithful and much appreciated $10 to $100 (or more of course) MONTHLY donations that truly, truly bless this ministry. Perhaps YOU would consider becoming one of Casa de Servicio's faithful?

On Tuesday we had an 11:00 meeting with Pastor Johnny Johnson of the Wings of Faith church in Ocala. We had two and a half hours with Pastor Johnny and a friend of his named Dave (I'm not sure I ever GOT his last name). It was a wonderful meeting where we spoke of God, missions, aviation, business, and life. Carolyn and I walked out of the meeting simply wondering how it went. It was almost like a group of "old friends" had gotten together, even though we had never met before that meeting. I'm not sure how much of our vision or mission we got across to Pastor Johnny, or Dave, but I'm SURE that the meeting went as God intended it to go. Pastor Johnny called us up several hours later (on our drive back to TN) and complimented us on how it went...so I guess it went well. We will leave it in God's hands now (as always) to grow the seed that He wanted us to plant there. Pastor Johnny IS going to speak with his missions director to see if they can stretch their already burdened budget (they currently support 10 missionaries and projects) to help us out. Pray for this to happen for our mission!

If you are new to receiving Casa de Servicio's "blog", then please take a few minutes and read the previous posts here. (http://www.casadeservicio.org/blog) Some of the entries may not be totally interesting, but they ARE at least informative. There is also an entry that contains our itinerary for the next month or so, and a probable timeline of our move to Nicaragua. It is all interesting to Carolyn and me of course. We pray that God will richly bless YOUR lives, as we all seek the face of the Lord.
