Some information came in:
Nueva Radio Ya reported that there had been one death, several injured, and 11 boats lost. Authorities estimated that at least 80% of the houses in Bilwi (Puerto Cabezas) were damaged. In the mining town of Bonanza, at least 100 houses were damaged. "Puerto Cabezas has been destroyed," exclaimed Antonio Joya, a government civil defense official. He said that the roofs of the hospital and both the Catholic the Moravian Churches had been damaged by the wind. Several churches and schools, including the Assembly of God Church used as refuge centers had lost their roofs leaving those who had taken refuge there open to the wind and rain. Bilwi (Puerto Cabezas) has lost electricity and radio towers have been blown down, according to Presidential Delegate for the Caribbean Coast Lumberto Campbell. Officials of the National System of Disaster Prevention (SINAPRED) said that 7,200 people had been evacuated by rescue crews organized by the Councils of Citizen Power while others had arrived at refuge centers on their own.
