God has blessed us in many ways this week
After five years of working at Flight Options (over five now), I flew with a pilot last week that I had never flown with before. It was refreshing to actually fly with someone that was interested in hearing a little bit about God, and the Christian philosophy. I have NEVER had the opportunity to share my religious beliefs on the "work-site" before. I was thrilled to be asked, and eagerly responded. Please join us in prayer that God will nurture these seeds in the heart of this pilot.
I was blessed to make initial contact with two influential people that may be of some benefit to our shared ministry. Mr. Hannon Lis, of the Jewish National Fund, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence O'Donnell. All of these folks CAN be a big help to us if they decide to...PLEASE, please, please...keep THIS in MUCH prayer!
We are going to Dayton, TN this weekend for the Dayton Area Missions Banquet. Pastor Mike Justice is the host, at the Dayton Family Church. We treasure your prayers for a beneficial outcome at this event. We want to renew our friendships there, and continue in fellowship with the local churches in that area. We have a very special place in our hearts for the Graysville Church of God which is near Dayton. Pastor Jimmy Talley and his wife Anita are true spirit-filled warriors of Christ! Like so many of the others that we meet, yourself included! We beg your prayers so that all will go well this upcoming weekend. We joyfully anticipate a heartwarming reception in Dayton. The folks there are absolutely some of the best in the country.
Carolyn and I have been blessed with the opportunity to speak at the Ducktown (TN) Baptist Church on May the 6th. We are very much looking forward to this for several reasons. The most obvious reason of course is that the Ducktown Baptist Church is a true missions believing and supporting church, and YOU know how much that warms our hearts to be around fellow missions believers! The second reason is denominational. This will be the first time that Carolyn and I have had the opportunity to speak in a Baptist church. Carolyn and I have attended Baptist churches on occastion (notably in Galveston, when we lived there), but have never had the opportunity to share our mission with the Baptist congregation to this point. We are excited about the possibility.
Most of you know that Carolyn and I are very nondenominational in our approach to ministry. I believe that most missionaries are that way (the ones that I've met anyway). Jesus was VERY inclusive (what a blessing for us gentiles)...so ...
I really don't have much to say this week, except that we are continuing the push towards the permanent move to Puerto Cabezas. A friend of ours (Calmore) had the opportunity to drop a document on President Daniel Ortega's (NICA president) desk last week. The document asks that the items we import for ministry in Nicaragua be allowed into the country without "impuesto" (tax). This would be a huge benefit to our ministry. Calmore received word that the document is receiving favor amongst the ministers (governmental ministers) in Nicaragua and we should hear back this week if it has been approved. Pray for this! For those of you that don't know it, we could be charged as much as 75% taxes on the importation of goods into Nicaragua without this document being approved! If we import a $175,000.00 airplane, it could really add up...not to mention the household goods we'll bring in. It really IS an important thing to our ministry.
I'll sign off for now. God bless you, and richly keep you!
Dios le bendiga grandemente a su familia y ministerio.
