Outpourings of faith from Jacksonville Florida

Hi Folks,

I am just ELATED to report that our trip to Jacksonville was rewarding AND a blessing! Carolyn and I had an appointment to meet with the Pastor of the Iglesia de Dios, La Hermosa Church (Church of God, Beautiful) at 2:00pm. We arrived in Jacksonville and pulled up to the door of Pastor Fabian Miranda's church at PRECISELY the appointed hour. Those of you that know me know that to cut the meeting THAT CLOSE really freaked me out. We actually drove from Cleveland, Tennessee to the door of the church nonstop and arrived at exactly the right time. I don't think that has ever happened to me before. (It is a seven hour drive).

Thanks go to God that the meeting was a huge blessing and really set the tone for the rest of our visit to the Jacksonville area. The first words we heard from Pastor Miranda were "missions are my life" (in Spanish of course). We were able to spend an hour or so with this truly blessed man. We learned that La Hermosa Church had been founded by Pastor Miranda with himself and four other members. The beautiful building that they bought last November can barely contain the 350 or so members that currently attend his church. For a totally Hispanic church, THAT IS HUGE! Carolyn and I were blessed by our meeting, and intend to build on this Godly relationship in the future. It turns out that Pastor Miranda is affiliated (or in charge of) 12 churches, and he professed his eagerness to help our missionary efforts in Nicaragua. Pastor Miranda told us of several members of his church who were originally from Central America. What a true blessing this meeting was!

We next met with Pastor Andy and Sister Janice Schiltz (that is NOT Schlitz, but SCHILTZ...say it RIGHT!) Pastor Andy and I hit it off right away. It turns out that he is an "ex-marine" (if there IS such a thing as a "ex" Marine), just like I am. We were actually stationed in one of the same bases that I thought no one had ever heard of. It was nice to reminisce as though we were old friends. Janice and Andy graciously accepted our invitation to lunch (China Palace), and we fellowshipped throughout the morning and into the afternoon. We were able to share our mission with the Schiltz's and form a bond that we pray will continue for many years to come.

Unfortunately, we were having such a great time fellowshipping that we ran late for our next appointment with Pastor Richardson of the New Evangelical Church of God, over on the East side of Jacksonville. We could tell immediately when we drove up the driveway of this beautiful church that the congregation must be blessed indeed. Pastor Richardson is a very busy man, and we were blessed by the fact that he took our late arrival with grace. (I had called him to advise him we were going to be late, but I still felt TERRIBLE about it). So when we finally DID arrive, Pastor Richardson was gracious and engaged...although short on time. He allowed us to lay out our missions calling for him, and then promised to have us in for a presentation in the future after he had spoken with his Church board and deacons. We were very excited to meet with Pastor Richardson, and we pray that we will have the oppotunity to get to know him much better in not too distant future!

I don't remember if I told you folks or not, but Carolyn and I recently finished our certification as EMT's (emergency medical technicians) at the Cleveland State Community College. Praise be to God for somehow "shoehorning" this into our busy schedule.

Please keep our mission in your daily prayers, and keep an eye open for funding opportunities! We STILL NEED to complete the purchase of the airplane to serve our brothers and sisters in Nicaragua.

Dios le bendiga grandemente en a su familia y ministerio.
